We've made it to the final days of 2020! WooHoo!!!
Now is a great time to pause and reflect on what's happened, where you've been, and where you're going.
I know I don't need to tell you that this past year has been challenging. I do, however, think it's important to look for the silver lining and the lessons learned that we can take with us into 2021.
This year has opened my eyes to the amount of suffering each of us experiences - our level of trauma might be different, but we all have experienced trauma.
I've been spending a lot of time pondering "what can I do to take a more active role in making things better for all of us?"
If 2020 has taught me anything, it's that the collective good is in our best self-interest. In other words, in order to thrive, we must do what's best for "us." By doing so, what's best for "me" will fall into place naturally.
During meditation on the Winter Solstice last week, what came to me as an intention for 2021 is Compassion in Action. I also just started reading the book, A Year of Living Kindly by Donna Cameron. In the introduction she says "kindness is a strength, a superpower that has the capacity to transform lives and change the world...It only requires that we pay attention, and when we face a choice of how we will respond, we choose kindness."
I'm not 100% sure what this will mean in terms of my work with Firefly Community, but I'm cooking up some ideas already. My intention will at least keep me pointed in the right direction, and as the Buddhist proverb goes: “If you’re facing in the right direction, all you need do is keep walking.”
You might notice the theme of compassion in action showing up in my blog posts, and the programs I offer throughout 2021. I'm already getting started!
On January 7, I'm hosting a virtual Restorative Yoga and Journaling Workshop to help you let go of any negative energy you're holding in your body so you can move into 2021 with a clear intention of your own. Here's the link to register.
I'm also developing an online course to help you revitalize, refresh, and renew. After 10 months of disruption to our norms, isolation, and the loss of many things that keep us sane, you might be feeling unhealthy and/or unable to get back on track. With this mini-course, you'll get to recharge and reenergize by connecting with body, mind and spirit.
Pre-registration opens this week (stay tuned!), and access begins on January 11.
I look forward to a fresh start in 2021! Happy New Year!!!
Cheers,
Carrie
