Cultivate Bliss

“As we bring happiness and abundance into the lives of everyone we meet, that happiness, success and abundance comes back to us like ocean waves gently rolling out to sea and rushing back to shore. When we live our lives in bliss, in harmony with the universe, a world of infinite possibilities opens to us.“ – Deepak Chopra

When asked what they want in life, most people will respond that they want to be happy. Happiness is the most universal urge for all of us. However, while the answer may be the same, how each person defines happiness is unique to the individual. Many of us grasp for those things that we think will make us happy, but even after we acquire them, that state of bliss still eludes us. As I turn 40 this week, I’ve been asking myself whether I cultivate enough bliss in my own life.

We have access to bliss at all times – the capacity for happiness exists within each of us. By taking the time to go within yourself, you can uncover what brings you deep joy, and begin to cultivate your bliss. What is it that you love to do, that while you are doing it, time flies? What do you do without thinking about it? Those activities that you lose yourself in are those that you should pursue to create a more blissful existence. Ever since I was a child, I loved teaching and learning. I was one of those kids who loved school and didn’t mind doing homework. When I was only seven or eight years old, I would “teach” my stuffed animals from my mother’s old textbooks. Reading, writing, traveling and researching new places, being outside in nature (especially in the trees and on the water), and in my adulthood, yoga are all things in which I can get lost and lose track of time.

Nothing is more important than reconnecting to our bliss. As Chopra indicates in the above quote, when you identify and follow what makes you happy, abundance comes back to you. We can’t help but want to share this joy with others, and when we share our happiness to serve the world, we are rewarded with abundance. By pursuing my dream of creating a retreat center in Colorado, I am following my bliss and making space and time in my life to do all of those things I listed that bring me joy.

Live your life in bliss by connecting to your unique purpose. Follow your path and share your gifts with the world, and be rewarded with a sense of calm, peace and happiness. We want to hear from you. What brings you bliss? Share with our community by posting on our Facebook page or connecting with us on Twitter.
